Author, author:  Writing a sequel to H2G2 by Douglas Adams Since I agreed to do Hitchhiker part six a lot of people have approached me to say how brave I am. I knew I was being cheeky saying yes to this project. Optimistic, even. But brave? Hardly brave. Brave is diving into a swollen river to rescue a photogenic child. Brave is admitting that yes, you did notice that woman who just sashayed past. But finishing someone else's sci-fi series, surely that shouldn't be classed as brave. It's not as if there's any actual danger, I thought at the time. I think a little differently now. I have known for decades that H2G2 is an extraordinary series. More than extraordinary. Brilliant. A lightning bolt across the worthy sci-fi landscape, jazzing up those tired old electrons, getting those sluggish matter transporters firing on all cylinders again.   ในภาษาอังกฤษมีวิธีการสร้างคำมากมาย แต่ขอสรุปวิธีการสร้างคำพื้นฐานจากหนังสือ Contemporary Linguistics: An Introduction (3rd Edition) โดย O’Grady, W., Michael D., and Aronoff M. (1997) ดังนี้  1. Derivation คือ การสร้างคำโดยยึดจากรากศัพท์ หนังสือบางเล่มใช้คำว่า Affixiation หมายถึง การสร้างคำโดยการเติมคำเข้าไปที่รากศัพท์เดิม  คำเติม (Affix) นั้นมี 2 แบบ คือ 1. การเติมหน้าคำ หรืออุปสรรค (Prefix) และ 2. การเติมหลังคำ หรือปัจจัย (Suffix) เข้าไปที่ตัวรากศัพท์เดิม (Root) เช่น  un-count-able = uncountable แปลว่า ซึ่งไม่สามารถนับได้   มาจาก  Un- = prefix / count = root / -able = suffix  2. Compounding = การสร้างคำโดยการนำคำ 2 คำ มาผสม/รวมกัน จนกลายเป็น 1 คำ เช่น nation + wide  = nationwide / spoon + fed = spoonfed เป็นต้น  พวก Compounding สามารถเขียนได้ 3 แบบ ขึ้นอยู่กับรูปแบบของคำนั้น ๆ เป็นหลัก ( เช่น คำว่า check-in ไม่นิยมเขียนแบบนี้ checkin มักมีเครื่องหมายขีดระหว่างคำเสมอ เพื่อเลี่ยงความสับสน เช่น คำว่า Inter-course (มีเครื่องหมายขีดกลาง In...
