Second English Training Wrap-Up in Suphan Buri

On March 22, 2020, my research team and I hit the road to the community of Doem Bang Nang Buat in Suphan Buri to continue our English training program in a bid to improve local people's English skills. Since it was a pproved and funded by the Kasetsart University Research and Development Insitute in late 2019, o ur program has been running under the research topic of  English Curriculum Development for Adult Learners in Doem Bang Nang Buat, Suphan Buri, with the objective of developing an English curriculum as a central guide to everyday English development for the sake of their community.  Everyone, both old and young, joining the program is given a free portable handbook with five English lessons ranging from greeting, self introduction, introducing places to introducing food and products made by their community and additonal training materials developed based on their needs. Grassroots need English skills

Co-funded by the Kasetsart University Research and Development Institute and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science, Kasetsart University, our research project is run under the title of  English Curriculum Development for Adult Learners in Doem Bang Nang Buat, Suphan Buri, with the ultimate goal of developing an English curriculum based on the learner-centered approach.  Before its final submission of the project proposal, we first started taking several field trips to Doem Bang Nang Buat to explore the potential of the community and the English needs of people. Then we employed all the information collected as a guide to our project proposal drafting. After that, it was done through the steps of writing: prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. Finally, the proposal was approved and funded.  Do field trips really matter? The answer is "yes". Mission accomplished

A short-term academic pilot project entitled “Empowering English with Len” came to an end yesterday. Co-pioneered by Asst. Prof. Prapaisri Wisedsookpong and ESI program lecturers, myself included, the project was designed to help students build up their confidence in English speaking, with a number of topics centered on the students’ interests. Throughout the one-month project, we were pleased and honored to work with US-born Len Burke as co-trainers. We all tried to make it fun and interesting. To get closer to students and to keep them active and focused, we limited the intake of students, only first 16 students chosen. When in the classroom, they were given the topics of interest and were trained countless learning techniques to speak English fluently and confidently by training head Len Burke and his co-trainers. Empowering English with Len Burke (Week 1), Kasetsart University

Every Tuesday morning from 09.00 am to 11.30 am, there is an English activity at the Department of Service Industry and Language Innovation Building, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science, Kasetsart University. The activity is entitled "Empowering English with Len Burke", organized by ESI program lecturers to increase students' ability to speak English confidently.  With countless topics ranging from personal stories to service industry stories, Asst. Prof. Prapaisri and I join hands with US-born Len Burke to bring out the best in every student.
